Big headache for Cannes Lions organisers as French air traffic controllers go on 3 day strike
French air traffic controllers have gone on strike in a three-day walkout which has grounded hundreds of domestic and international flights at airports across the country – just as hundreds of creative directors from around the world were due to start arriving to judge at the 60th anniversary Cannes Festival of Creativity.
‘Dumb Ways to Die’ creator John Mescall, ECD of McCann Melbourne, who is on the Promo & Activation jury, caught the last plane to Nice today from London before the strike started. Mescall told CB from Cannes: “From what I can gather, it’s on until Friday 6am and airlines are cancelling around 50% of all flights into France. Pretty bloody chaotic, I know at least four P+A judges won’t make it in time.”

If any students are wasting their time here maybe you can think of some way to get your book in front of these poor stranded travelers or maybe make an app to get them to their destination.

Dumb ways to fly?
If you’re not in you can’t win!
Ad-mergency!!!
That’s not a boat. That’s a ship!
@Jack Russell: Hahahaha. Nice!
Quick, sell everything. The world is about to end.
P.S. Anyone know how I can contribute to the French Traffic Controllers strike fund?
“Oh honey it’s terrible. I’m stranded. In Paris! I know! They don’t even wash here!”

This is the best news I’ve heard for months. Hopefully the French train drivers will come out in sympathy. The idea of a bunch of self-important drongos having to hitch to Cannes is magnifique!
Good.
