Chess quits Lavender for new, undisclosed role
Following a highly successful 2010 for Lavender, Sydney, including over $20m in new business, executive creative director Luke Chess has decided to move on.
When contacted, Chess, who joined Lavender from the CD gig at Saatchi & Saatchi, Auckland in February last year, told CB that he could not reveal his next move as yet.
Says Will Lavender, founder: “Luke has brought a renewed passion to our creative offering, and has been an integral part of our team this year. He leaves us poised to capitalise on our recent successes: Westpac ATL, Wendy’s and IKEA Family.
“We are in the privileged position of having a wealth of senior creative talent in the agency with renowned creative director Tan Gout Nee and creative director of Brand Design Olivia Swinn and we’re looking forward to even bigger things in 2011.”
Says Chess: “It’s been a full on year for Lavender, and indeed for me too. While this is the right decision for me both personally and professionally, I’m pleased to be leaving the agency in a such strong and sound position.”

Back to Saatchi’s, or The Palace perhaps?
70 George St?
Saatchis I reckon. He always goes back there.
And he did that with an account service team who think ‘new shoes’ is the marketing objective.
Good luck luke!!
Can I recall my comment about Jay and Andy being the worst dressed men in advertising?
He lasted 8 months longer with the flounder than I thought he would.
Another interim CD stint for the flounder – that went well last time.
That’s a nice long stint for an ECD at Lavender!
First Doley, now Chess, who’s next?
Clems?
…And the award to the agency with highest staff turn over… goes to…
Whatever the turnover at the flounder’s factory, it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the clients. I reckon they’re happier with the interim CD than with any serious contender.
Genius 6:07, considering it’d been on the Blog for five hours when you made that comment.
