D&AD judging thrown into chaos by Iceland volcano: Prince only Kiwi to make it to London
Because of the Iceland volcano that as shut down airports throughout Europe, PaulPrince (above), the New Zealand based CEO/managing partner of The Sweet Shop appears to be the only Australasian to have made it to London to participate in the D&AD Awards judging, which starts today. Prince, who is on the TV & CinemaCrafts jury – arrived in London last week, just prior to the eruption.

Knowing Princey, he didn’t use a plane to fly there!
Good onya mate. Our collective reps are safe in your hands.
As for Duster, you’d think those inventive Kiwis would have built some kind of Awards Ark. no?
That’s because Princey has magic powers!
Clearly, Princey just wanted it more.
an ad show has been affected? wow, this thing really is big.
It’s the end of the world as we know it.
What’s the bet it’s some kind of stunt for Eurostar.
Godlike way of saying we need fresh faces in judging.
Volcanoes 1, Advertising 0
having flown “PrinceAir” a couple of times, I know what true jet lag feels like!
Haha, i love advertising – the planet is falling to pieces and all we’re worried about is who’s going to preside over the awards for being a major cause of it.
it won’t be the first time that ‘dust’ has held up D&AD judging
Looking forward to the hilarious Volcano tactical from Nandos out of Sphere about 3 weeks from now.
Is that more Brand Karma??
They got the smoke, just need some mirrors.
This story has resulted in at least one Aussie being recruited for D&AD jury duty at the last moment. BMF senior art director Jake Rusznyak has replaced his old boss Simon Langley (now ECD of 303 Sydney), on the Outdoor jury. Jake was on annual leave in the UK and as luck would have it, is stuck in London.
Here’s another one for D&AD, courtesy of the CB Blog: Angus Wardlaw, the senior CHI, London creative who has just been appointed CD of Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand – the news was a CB exclusive today – is also now on one of the D&AD juries, representing New Zealand in place of Duster, ECD of Clemenger Wellington, who was supposed to be on the Integrated jury.
Pity Duster’s not going to be there. With his name, he could have…oh, never mind…
