Oh please. This is about as deep as churches are relevant.
could have been so much better.
Will… Churches are relevant. One day, when you’re in a foxhole, you might then understand. KKK, maybe it could have been stronger, but it is simple and gets your attention. And there’s a lot of stuff out there that isn’t . Happy Easter. NIc.
So “Nic”, you only believe in god when you’re getting shot at? How Christian of you to make a threat in order to make a point.
The saying is ‘There are no atheists in a foxhole’. Not ‘There are no people who think that churches are not relevant.’ Believing in God is not the same thing as believing any of his various, competing and self-appointed cheer-leaders.
Given that, churches are very relevant to some people, entirely irrelevant to others.
Wow, a few itchy trigger fingers out there. Why such an aggressive, attitudinal response? Get the cane by a “cheer leader’ teacher at school? Or worse? We’ve all heard of the terrible things done in His name. And the ‘brand’ has had some shocker PR disasters. I’m sure God isn’t too flash with how his ‘agency’ down here has represented him.
I have, however, had my time in a foxhole and when the blackness finally stopped, I crawled out comforted in understanding the meaning of life and where I’m headed, during and after it.
Some do. Some don’t.
But I don’t go around attacking non-churchgoers. Or those in other faiths. Everyone is just trying to get thru this life thing as best as poss. Just a bit sad when people go out of there way to attack a 2000 year-old organisation; regular joes, like me, trying to gain understanding while supporting those around with divorce, financial devestation, suicide… you know: life stuff.
I see a lot of folk, getting joy in their life. As well as a lot of people joyfully at the end of their life. I don’t see too many other products offering that USP.
So, whether you’re gay and feel attacked, or alienated by something, somewhere the church has done, maybe, just maybe hold your fire for a sec. Going viral might make some part of you feel better, but is it making you a better person?
And if anything I’ve said bums you, have the decency to keep it to yourself. Be the better man. Be the better woman. Appreciate we all walk on the same ball and I sincerely hope you don’t end up spending time in a foxhole.
Feel sorry for these poor souls.
A religion that on the surface preaches love and understanding, but really it’s all about judging if people are up to their standards. A religion that in the past has fooled the public into promoting homophobia, racism and amongst other things, sexism.
Horrible, horrible lies, please don’t advertise them.
