CB Exclusive – Kia Australia and Innocean have launched Uncomfortable Serenade, the second Cerato ‘never an uncomfortable moment’ stunt..
This follows on from their AFL ‘Pick of the day’ Live stunt which picked up over 1,000,000 earned Youtube hits today alone.

again nice work guys, though the audience in a park is much smaller than a stadium
Go Rua!
makes me uncomfortable too.. the whole campaign is pretty brave, I like it
Campaign brief I would double check your information about “over 1mil hits in a day”. Look at the comments all over the youtube video. Besides being in arabic, they are also mostly incomprehensible. Just sentences about random crap and how Allah is great.
THe people at Innocean should be ashamed of themselves as they are quite clearly using a youtube bot.
I like the thinking but remember a Holden spot from a few years ago for the Cruze that went on about uncomfortable moments too.
Why didn’t he go to sleep? hahahaha I dig it. Bloody funny.
I’m sure this will be a big hit in the middle east too.
Just awful.
Look, there’s no way around it, it’s boring, staged crap. Hey what about the British Ikea ‘Gnomes’ ad?
Stunt, says it all really.
And what exactly is this doing for the Brand? . . . other than making it look cheap and desperate, when it really wants to validate the quality of its vehicles in a landscape where Kia has been synonymous with cheap.
This is another one of those fails where a rather immature sense of humour and a devotion to the god of social media are sold to a client, in fact sold to a creative director as the next thing, when it’s just not.
Fail, and yes we are all uncomfortable, about Kia.
Although its trying to integrate the tvc about uncomfortable moments and the comfort of a Kia, as a stand alone, all this viral manages to do is associate its brand Kia with uncomfortable moments, like when you pull up to an event in a parking lot with all your mates standing there, and you’re driving a Kia. Now that’s uncomfortable.
At last something ambient and viral that actually ties properly into a product benefit. Hooray!
the youtube hits are real.. comments have actual user profiles and youtube bots don’t do that properly. but more importantly I can read arabic and the comments are genuine. It’s mostly discussion about how embarrassing for the guy and whether it’s a real event. fyi – allah is just the norm over there like saying ‘wow’ or ‘oh sure’ etc.
Oh yeah totally, that’s exactly what’s happening there… We totally believe you and all those youtube comments. You are the bestest arguer ever!
Nice! Keeping it real!
It’s just not as good as the other stunt.
That was great.
This is not.
We all speak arabic with google translate MJ. Youtube bots do leave comments, go and look it up. How can your argument be so logically flawed? Why would a celebrity picking his nose be a hit in the middle east?
Curious to know…is there a difference between uncomfortable and ####ing annoying?
Why are so many Arabs sitting up at 3.30 am posting comments on a youtube video of a small media stunt in Australia?
As much as this stunt is creative, it falls down a bit in that it is a little mean spirited. These people have been working, just want to have a bit of lunch in peace and quiet, and instead get annoyed and embarrassed by a dickhead for 5 minutes.
The AFL idea was brilliant because it rewarded people. No one was annoyed or embarrassed except for the actor they paid. It didn’t belittle them for the sake of a cheap laugh.
The first one will do well. This one is not of the same calibre.
