Kiwi expat creatives raise money to fund TV ad pleading for Americans to vote in the election
Ex-New Zealand advertising creatives Ben Polkinghorne and Scott Kelly, former-Colenso BBDO creative team who now work at Wieden+Kennedy London, have launched an ambitious Indiegogo campaign Dear America, raising money to run a TV ad in America paid for by the world. The message will be completely free from political bias and just serve as a simple reminder that on the 8th of November they should head out and vote.
Whoever becomes the 45th President of the United States of America will become the most powerful person in the world. Yet the world doesn’t get a say. And in the last election, nearly half of Americans didn’t even get off the couch and vote.
The world is watching from the sidelines but can’t tell America what to do. All the world can do is send a message reminding Americans how powerful their vote is. The hope is this will serve as a timely reminder the world is watching. The campaign can be found at www.DearAmerica2016.com.

Does middle America care what a bunch of hipsters from a tiny Island has to say. No. This is purely for awards and their book. Not change. Lame.
I’d prefer if the ad asked them to become informed about civics, history and economics before they voted.
Could we write an ad that gets American citizens to read about civics, economics and geopolitics?
But if they ‘just vote’, across the board, then the results of the election won’t be any different. It will just amplify the current numbers of voters with the same percentages for democrat/republican.
It seems like this campaign presumes that people will vote in a particular way (I’m guessing the creators are hoping against Trump).
But if that’s true there is absoultely no persuasion in this direction.
@Elephant maybe if you tried something other than criticism you would have better results.
Good job boys. Can’t fault people for getting up and having a go.
Un biased? – as if. It’s anti Trump or why would they bother?
Bloody NewZealanders are always so up themselves.
Nice work lads
There are multiple reasons for low voter turnout, including; voter registration laws, lack of enthusiasm, apathy, ignorance, disgust with current election cycle and mainstream politics. Big reasons.
So tell me, if someone isn’t going to vote for their own interests why on earth would they care about yours?
This is a boring and self-serving attempt to address an undeniably huge problem. I hope you return people’s money when this does not reach the target.
