Speaking of pointless nonsense, when do the MADC entries close?
Is being an award judge now classed a profession? It’s all these guys seem to do? Be nice to see some new faces.
Dear Reg,
Here’s how it works. Award shows are nothing more than money-making businesses built on leveraging ad people’s egos and insecurities [insatiable need to be feted].
The more entries the award shows receive, the more money award show ‘owners’ make. And the best way to get the most entries is to build strong relationships with the major networks. So, the show’s owners continue to tell the big agency creatives how wonderful they are by continually asking them to judge. They then accept and ensure their agencies enter and everyone’s happy. Agency heavies are feted as ‘leading lights’. Major agencies spend a lot of money entering awards. Major agencies win awards. Award show owners make a lot of money. And when its over, it all starts over again.
It is absolutely ludicrous that the deadline has been extended so many times. This is something that encourages scam work.
