Last NightInstead of just making one ad to promote this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne agency Gen C has teamed up with the Festival to create At the Water Cooler – a nine part online/social series and TVC starring comedians Michelle Brasier, Nick Capper, Dilruk Jayasinha, Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall and Ell Sachs.

The series was written and produced by Gen C, with on the day creative collaboration from the cast, and gave the Melbourne International Comedy Festival an incredibly broad suite of relevant, engaging and entertaining content that spanned the entire length of the Festival.

Humpday.jpgAt the Water Cooler’s dry, observational humour comes to life around the office water cooler – shining a light on the excruciatingly mundane conversations we all have to go through at work with colleagues we have nothing in common with. Shot in a single day, the seriesMICF 03 THE WEATHER GRADE.00_00_55_13.Still002.jpg was launched on Facebook, Youtube, and Instagram in the lead up to the Festival, with further releases throughout the three and a half week Festival and into the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow tour.

Says Claire Hammond, festival associateMICF Birthday Grade - Chris.00_00_21_15.Still001 2.jpg director: “It was fantastic to work with Gen C on this content series – a first for the Festival in creating a series of promotional pieces to run on new and traditional media channels for the Festival and Roadshow campaigns. Through the dry humour and relatable material of the writing, plus the brilliant talent andMICF Birthday Grade - Chris.00_01_00_05.Still002.jpg improvisational skills of the comedians, we were able to deliver our key Festival messages in a fun and engaging way.”

Says Jack White, managing director, Gen C: “Working with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival was a bit of a dream come true for us because it combined the two things we love most, films and comedy.”MICF RIDE.jpg
