NGENers learn the five rule of dodgeball: dodge, duck, dip, dive + donate at Charity Cup Dodgeball

IMG_2139_preview.jpgThe NGEN community has continued their great tradition of the fiercely competitive Charity Cup Dodgeball tournament and raised over $27,000 for Whitelion, an UnLtd charity partner.

Now in its fifth year, the annual tournament is a chance for the NGENers to get competitive, throw some fast balls at their rivals and raise some much-needed funds for UnLtd charity partners.

IMG_2087_preview.jpgThe Dodgeball winners were UM & oOh! Media (Brisbane), Starcom (Sydney) and Amobee (Melbourne) and the coveted Charity Cup for the most funds raised was awarded to MCN (Brisbane), Starcom (Sydney) and CHE Proximity (Melbourne). Special mention goes to Wavemaker who missed out on the Charity Cup by just one dollar in Sydney.

In the lead up to the event, the NGEN community got creative with various fundraising activities ranging from a Wear White for Whitelion day to cake sales, a car wash and throwing pies at each other’s’ faces.

Says Kathleen Beddoes, head of NGEN: “Each year the NGENers continue to surprise us with their passion and determination to get involved and be social change makers and we are so proud of all their efforts. A special thank you to oOh! Media for once again sponsoring the event nationally, we couldn’t have done it without their support.”

The funds raised go to support the important work Whitelion does with at risk young people.

Says Adam Gibson, business development and partnership manager from Whitelion: “We are so grateful for the support from MFA and the NGEN community. The funds raised will have a huge impact on the lives of young people at risk. The donation will allow nearly 50 young people to obtain a Certificate III in hospitality at our “If It Wasn’t For This Coffee” barista training program, giving them valuable training and qualifications that give them a chance of finding employment and turning their lives around.”

Says Nina Nyman, head of marketing and partnerships at UnLtd: “The NGEN community is full of passionate young people who want to make a difference and use their skills for good and we are delighted to be working with MFA and the NGEN community on not just the Dodgeball tournament but on many other initiatives. Congratulations to all the teams for the great fundraising effort!”
