Origin rivals go head to head in an amusingly awkward meeting in new NRL TV spot via MJW
Seizing an opportunity to make light of last year’s hot-headed Origin Series encounter between Queensland player Nate Myles and NSW captain Paul Gallen, MJW has brought the two rivals together for an amusingly awkward meeting for its NRL ‘State of Mind’ campaign.
Highlighting how men suffering from depression or mental health issues often have trouble talking to each other, this unlikely union comes at a time when Paul Gallen admitted being embarrassed about the incident.
MJW produced 30 and 60 second spots to be launched across social media, then later as a TVC. Each encourages men to go to the State of Mind website where they’ll discover several organisations that can offer them help.

“Amusingly awkward”… Nah just plain awkward. Car crash awkward
Congratulations! If the objective was to increase depression awareness it is a massive success because I watched it and now I am depressed!!!
An ad featuring sportsmen that’s genuinely funny! This is a singular achievement. Hats off to agency and director.
How do i get my 30seconds back..
Topical. Well done I say.
Not sure I should be saying this but…I like you
Anyone who says otherwise is just a bitter little creative.
This is great. Awkwardly excellent. Anyone that says otherwise wishes they were writing ads like this rather than long-copy DM work.

If this is so great, where are the creative credits?
Nah, you’re all wrong, this is pretty shit.
It’s your state of shit more like it.
No idea. Sorry, really well directed and great talent, but absolutely shit on the idea front.
