Qantas brings New Zealand to Sydney domestic airport with experiential travelator launch part of joint campaign with Tourism NZ via Wonder
Qantas today unveiled its experiential Qantas Travelator as part of a joint marketing campaign with Tourism New Zealand to showcase the best of New Zealand’s North Island to customers via Wonder.
The Qantas Travelator resembles an aircraft fuselage, is 27 meters long and is positioned over the moving walkway near Gate 7 at Sydney Domestic Terminal 3. Tourism New Zealand is the first to partner with Qantas for its travelator promotions.
As customers walk through the fuselage, they will be taken on a photographic journey of the North Island. Images of Rotorua, the Bay of Islands and Auckland canvas the inside of the aircraft windows and tranquil music complements scenes of untouched coastlines and pristine national parks.
The Qantas and Tourism New Zealand campaign will run from 18 October to 29 November and Qantas retail offers will also feature within the Travelator and will update weekly.
The Qantas Travelator campaign is part of Qantas’ commitment to the New Zealand market and the airline continues to enhance the experience for customers travelling between Australia and New Zealand.
Faster, smarter check-in on the Tasman now provides Platinum, Gold and Silver Frequent Flyers and Qantas Club members to the opportunity to check-in at an internationally configured Q Card Reader, streamlining the check-in process.
Qantas currently operates more than 100 return trans-Tasman services per week, including 70 return flights per week between Australia and Auckland and 21 return flights per week between Australia and Wellington.

Droga5 is on fire!
This experiential idea for Qantas is great – cant wait to see where it goes.
Best work for anyone ever
Yeeeew! – looks to me like a Wonder campaign, not Droga 5. Great activation though – looks awesome!!
Nice work WONDER.
@Yeew. If Droga 5 are on fire, call the fire brigade and get out of the building.
I know a Droga5 idea when I see one.
Are you sure this is WONDER?
This is new school Droga5
So simple. So good.
Where are the overhead lockers?
Yep. 100%
It even says so on the press release. Last word, first para.
Unless of course they’re lying. But I don’t think so. They’re very nice people.
If you look carefully through the windows you can see angry businessmen trapped under mountains of airmiles they can’t spend on flights and elderly, disgruntled air hostesses who’ve forgotten they work in a service industry, throwing peanuts at them.
@Hey jen – Jen is right – its definitely Wonder
Well kudos to Wonder.
For a minute there I thought Droga5 had done it!
Looks like something the NYC office would do.
What do the windows look like from the other side?
this is amazing work, no wonder droga5 won qantas…. This will win titanium mark my words
Cool execution. qantas must have a tonne of money to waste. Would be better off spending it on upgrading their offer. Then again, this has been done in the US already.
I also love @lud. Your clearly work for wonder as you’re the only one who could identify a Wonder piece.
@joe – doesn’t take too much to read the headline which says “via Wonder”….@jen is also able to read a headline and the copy….its not rocket science

I thought that new Justin guy must have planned it.
Those Droga5 planners are ace.
Especially the NYC ones.
Just feels like the consumer insight is so smack on – I can smell it.
So well done Wonder!
I was in Sydney airport yesterday and experienced this for myself. Mere words do not do it justice. I was shaking so much afterwards I could barely board my flight!!
I think the praise is sarcasm, right?
Am i going to be the 1st to say this?
Reading all the comments…Is this reaaallly that good? Sounds like a bunch of people patting their own backs.
This is just ok. Nothing more.
It’s a first thought and the only thing admirable is that they manage to get the client to buy it.
Heaps of people already had this idea/execution presented to airline companies before.
But 3:08pm, this time it got up…
Hats off to the Wondroga5 merge, this first work out is a brilliant sign of things to come.
so before squeezing into a into a tin can for hours, I get to experience being in one on my way to getting into a real one?
You tossers…admiring your own work on the blog this ha-ha-hhard…you’ll go blind.
F*&%! this is dull.
Travelogue pics in a shiny white structure.
Ohh, the genius, the wonder of it all.
F#$%! off.
I just boarded a Qantas plane to find there was no travellator running down the aisle. False advertising. That’s typical of Droga4.99 stuff, always a lot of hype, but sometimes the things in the case studies don’t even happen.
Saw this last week, most business people went around it rather than through it (like me). Probably thought they were about to be sold something.
