Founded 26 years ago, the full service creative agency has found huge success with its retail-specific services globally and sees a gap in the market here in Australia.

Says Steve Sowden (left), managing partner, on how marketing services for the retail sector in Australia is a very specific challenge: “We bring to Australia global creative thinking with the ability to deliver campaigns to the highest possible standards through all channels, with the physical retail environment at the heart of each project.

“We focus on the detail of deployment from ECRM through to retail experiential, priding ourselves on award winning creative product and an ability to work with other above-the-line agencies to deliver existing creative and brand thinking.”

Intermarketing Agency has been working with many global retailers from the UK, including Ted Baker, Footlocker, Reebok and, most notably, adidas which the company has been successfully servicing for fifteen years.

Says Sowden: “We see a huge opportunity to share our vast experience and learnings from the American and European retail sector to assist retailers here in Australia.

“We have already identified some exciting opportunities to help new clients create engaging and customer focused retail-marketing campaigns in Australia. With the notable exception of a few brands, mainly those who have come here over the last few years from Europe and the USA, we believe it’s something that Australian retailers could do better.”

Says Philip Crampton, head of online marketing, David Jones: “I’ve worked with Intermarketing Agency for many years in previous roles across Europe and Australia. I’m delighted that they are launching in Australia; their retail expertise is second to none, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to deliver compelling marketing campaigns with the customer firmly at the heart.”

Intermarketing Agency’s Sydney office will be supported by the UK based Innovations Team and creative services while the agency grows and trains its Australian team over the coming months.

Says Sowden: “We have established a network of talent based in Australia, and are actively recruiting more people who are attracted to working in a highly specialised independent agency. As well as our Sydney office we already have our sights on opening in Melbourne in the near future.”
