sweet_country_still (1).jpgWorld Wide Mind hosted an industry event on Saturday for the preview screening of director Warwick Thornton’s latest feature, ‘Sweet Country’.

Thornton’s film, inspired by real events, is a period western, set in the late 1920s in the Northern Territory outback, where justice itself is put on trial.

27144422_10211773370072168_986515718_o (1).jpgSays Michelle Parker, executive producer, WWM: “The film is as beautiful as it is confronting. It explores a bitterly divided society following the shooting of a white pastoralist by an Aboriginal stockman, shining a light on our dark past.

“The landscape and Warwick’s stunning cinematography is a visual feast and his pointed observations on colonialism and rough justice, combine to make a film that is rich in visual storytelling.”

Sweet Country is screening at Sundance today and has just won its fourth international film festival award, winning Best Dramatic Feature Film at the ImagineNATIVE Film Festival in Canada. This follows the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, the Premio Bisato d’Oro award (the Venice Critics award for Best Film) and the Toronto International Film Festival Platform Prize.
