Wrigley launches new Eclipse ‘After Anything Mint’ television campaign via DDB Sydney
DDB Sydney has launched a new TV campaign for Wrigley Eclipse Mints titled “After Anything Mint”. From ‘abominable coffee breath’ to ‘funky fish breath’, the TVCs illustrate that Eclipse Mints are the mints that give you Powerful Fresh Breath after ‘Anything’.
The ‘Yeti’ and ‘Mermaid” TVCs demonstrate typical everyday scenarioswhere mints are needed to solve a bad breath problem. But instead ofhumans, mythical creatures (with particular habits) have been used toshow how Eclipse mints are the solution to freshen your breath, nomatter how bad. Prosthetics for the Yeti and mermaid characters wereall produced from scratch and shot in camera.

This is pretty badly done. I like the strategy though
The Agency producer not want to put their name to this one??? I can’t say i blame them.
“Forgive them….they know not what they do”
poorly executed. nice strat.
Wouldn’t the mermaid’s boyfriend be needing some breath refreshment, too?
Mermaid, tick, Yeti, nup.
Mermaids, in all likelihood, eat fish.
But when you think of what food or drink is likely to give a Yeti shocking breath, I’m not sure coffee is the first or best thing to come to mind.
I have a suspicion that this script had a much better storyline, but was mangled by a client who said “Look if you really love the Yeti idea you can keep it, but research has identified coffee breath as a problem, so twist that in somehow.” And the creatives just couldn’t let go of the Yeti because they’d fallen in love with it, for reasons which elude me. Should have. Could have.
And anyway, Coffee Breath? How about Cigarette Breath. Onion Breath, Beer Breath, Hungry Breath, Garlic Breath, Dog Breath etc etc etc etc etc? Lots of opportunity.
Terrible direction of a tired idea and strategy…..they look so dated.
Old CD Guy is right on the money. To be true (and fair) to the Yeti, you would need to be highlighting such problems as Yak Breath, Mountain Goat Breath, or perhaps even Unlucky Sherpa Breath.
Poorly done, indeed!
They do a good job with a not so exciting product for mine. Yeti made me laugh.
These are great.
The fact they’re getting slagged on here is a bit of a joke really.
more crap tv from ddb
I like ’em. Onya Dave and Jakub. They’re fun.
both very good.
funny.
Really like the mermaid, Yeti is okay. I think this is a campaign that really has legs…sometimes.
These are actually pretty good ads for what used to be a stale brand. Anyone remember the ads with the young thin things wondering around the city looking for Eclipse tins?
DDB, I don’t work for you but I think these are very good.
And I’ve had my pants spanked on this blog enough times I know how it feels when you can’t tell if people are sucking up, plain pissed off, bored or genuinely dislike something.
This is good. And the more good work we see for real clients, the better it is for our business, and creatives, so hats off.
Well done.
yeah, love the casting. well shot and cut too. tidy work, no doubt.
nice!
I reckon the mermaid is hot!! Made me go and buy some eclipse mints straight out. Works for me.
